Greenlaw Building, State of Maine | Augusta, ME | LBA

The Greenlaw Building was originally constructed in 1954. This renovation by Lavallee Brensinger Architects is intended to serve the State of Maine Laboratories, including BSL-3 Spaces and testing/storage for local and State police along with the State of Maine Division of Disease Control. The renovation included a complete gut of the interior, modification to the exterior to address envelope concerns, and a new roof, along with extensive rooftop units.

My role in this project was as a project technician starting during Design Development through Construction Documents. I focused on the exterior design and envelope detailing along with related structural and MEP coordination. Lavallee Brensinger worked with a building envelope specialist to address the exterior issues including failing brick, mortar, and stone, poorly performing windows, and poorly insulated existing exterior walls, and other issues.

The Greenlaw Building is currently under construction.
